Shenzhen, China-based Winner Medical Group Inc. has begun production of PurCotton, its new cotton nonwoven material and expects to ship the first order by the end of January. The first order—jumbo rolls of raw PurCotton material—was received from a leading Japanese OEM and long-term Winner Medical customer, which use the rolls of PurCotton to produce hygiene products such as wipes, wet tissue and alcohol swabs, which it will sell under its own brand name. “We are very pleased and excited to deliver our new, groundbreaking product, PurCotton, to the market,” said Jianquan Li, chairman and chief executive officer of Winner Medical. “This innovative, technologically enhanced fabric offers significant advantages to traditional woven gauze and synthetic nonwoven products, including greater absorbency, higher tensile strength, lower weight and lack of raw edges or extraneous fibers that can exacerbate microbial infection propensity and increase wound healing complications. Furthermore, our patented advanced automation and design process reduces the average cycle time for production of the finished cloth from raw material. We consider this order confirmation of the demand for PurCotton, and believe the product will give Winner Medical a strong competitive edge in the global marketplace.” PurCotton is a nonwoven fabric made of 100% natural cotton that is non-allergenic and fully biodegradable. The cotton used in its production—the low-sucrose, fiber-rich composition cotton— is grown primarily in the Hubei Province of China where the Winner Medical PurCotton facility is located and is especially well-suited for the manufacture of nonwoven spunlace material.
